Our Club motto is “We Drive Excitement” and this is what high performance driving is all about!

We are a car club, and more importantly a car club based on ownership of high performance vehicles specifically manufactured for the purpose. Our Club offers its members the below wide range of “Motorsport” activities because members have different cars, different interests and different skill levels, and we try to ensure that the family can be involved in most of these great driving activities.

There are many ways that our Club members can enjoy the excitement of high performance driving, which goes back to the heritage of our vehicles.

Driver Development is fundamental in improving skills, and this in turn improves the fun and the safety of high performance driving.

Please click here for more information about our three part driver development program, held twice a year, that commences with a defensive driving program for foundation skills, and progresses to an advanced driving course to develop high performance driving skills and finally taking your car to the track at the SMSP Track night that has sessions for beginners, intermediate and experienced drivers.

Fun Off Street Events have been organised through the year. You can see them on the Club Calendar or click here for more information. These events include a NSWRRC Track evening, a Wednesday Night Drag Evening, a Roll Racing evening, an Airport Sprint at Gunnedah, night Track evenings at Sydney Motorsport Park, and HSVFest Motorsport Day that includes track sprint, go to whoa and 1/8th mile single vehicle drags.

Competitive Events are the next level in driving excitement! A wide range of these events have been organised for Club members through the year. You can see them on the Club Calendar or by clicking here for more information. These events include the Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship, that runs six rounds this year and is what our HSV Owners Club of NSW Motorsport Championship is based on. The Club also enters teams in the NSW 6 Hour Regularity and the Motorsport Events Budget Endurance Series. The Club is also participating at many Mount Panorama Bathurst events led by Bill Vouden. There is a Bathurst Speed Series as well as both Challenge Bathurst Supersprint and Regularity events.

Benefits of High Performance Driving

High Performance Driving isn’t just about having fun and getting that adrenaline pumping, it actually benefits your health too, from boosting concentration to increasing strength. So here’s a how’s and whys of how High Performance Driving has its health advantages.

Strength. High Performance Driving is all in the arms and your biceps and triceps get a work out during enthusiastic driving. Regular High Performance Driving will help strengthen and tone these muscles.

Reflexes. High Performance Driving is all about testing your reflexes and tracks are designed to keep you on your toes – knowing when and where to turn, accelerate and brake.

Concentration. When you’re behind the steering wheel, focus and concentration is vital. You need to be alert at all times, this is great for sharpening the mind. It’s also a great way for letting go of any worries and anxiety.

Confidence. High Performance Driving can assist with building confidence. Learning to drive at speed and posting best lap times provides a huge sense of accomplishment therefore boosting confidence levels. This newfound confidence can then be transferred and applied to other tasks and activities.

Oxygen flow. Extreme sports such as Motorsport release adrenaline which can help dilate blood vessels and increase oxygen flow. This assists circulation and helps you feel invigorated.

Life skills. High Performance Driving can assist greatly with life skills, here your solely in control of the vehicle and everything you do matters. Motorsport aids with learning responsibility, judgement, decision making and problem solving.

Motorsport Volunteer Officials

There are also other ways to enjoy Motorsport with the Club without driving your car! The best way is to volunteer to help at a Supersprint. This way you get a trackside seat, a free lunch and a fun day of involvement. No experience is necessary as helpers will be provided with guidance and supervision on the day. By helping out at Supersprints you can also qualify for a Motorsport Australia Officials Licence which you will need if you want to volunteer at major events such as the V8 Supercars or Muscle Car Masters.
