The $155,500 375 kilowatt W427 ‘supercar’ was unveiled to celebrate HSV’s 20 years. The W427 was a tribute to the first HSV ever produced – the Group A SS VL Commodore which was known as the ‘Walkinshaw’. The hand-built 7.0-litre LS7 V8 powerplant was found in only one other car in the world, the Corvette Z06.

The Club now had 267 members, but several Regional branches were discontinued with only the South Coast and ACT branches remaining active.
During the 21st Anniversary Gala Christmas Ball and Presentation Night which was held at the La Montage Bayside function centre, HSV CEO Phil Harding commented that our club was (quote) “the most professional, organised and friendly club” (unquote) that he had ever been in the company of!
Social Events: Runs to Mount Panorama Bathurst with Canberra Club (March), Breakfast at the Hydro Majestic Hotel Medlow Bath followed by our annual run to Mount Panorama Bathurst (June), Christmas in July Dinner at the Blue Mountains, Hardy’s Bay with lunch at Terrigal, lunch at Gabby’s Restaurant Berry followed by a visit to the Chocolate Factory, Hunter Valley via Putty Rd to Potters Brewery at Pokolbin; Coffs Harbour and Hunter Valley Weekends Away; Shannon Wheels Display on the lawns of Old Parliament House and Temora Air Show Drive both organised by Canberra Region.
Special Events: Dyno Day at Sams Performance Greenacre (June) and at BTA Motorsport Campsie (December); NSW All Holden Day at Clarendon; Club Display at Supercheap Auto; HSVOC vs Muscle Car Club Drag Day at WSID; Fundraiser for Westmead Children’s Hospital; Club Calendar photo shoot at Olympic Park; Sydney Motor Show Club Display at Darling Harbour; Muscle Car Shows at Hunter Holden Ryde and Hawkesbury Valley Holden Windsor; Christmas Party General Meeting; Gala Dinner presentation night at Le Montage Lilyfield.
2008 Club Motorsport Championship winners were: Grant Charlwood (Club Supersprint Champion) followed by Brett Heeley and Adrian Bates, Rod Wallace (Class 3D), Mick McMurdo (Class 4), Grant Charlwood (Class 4DC).
Motorsport: Competition Driver Training at Oran Park (March & August) and Track Skills at Eastern Creek Skid Pan (June & October); Interclub Supersprint Series – 8 rounds Oran Park x4, Eastern Creek x 2, Wakefield Park x 2.
