The Australian Racing Drivers Club ( ARDC ) who operate Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern Creek turns 70 this year!

Yes, they began in 1952 and ran such circuits as Castlereagh, Mt Druitt, Mt Panorama, Catalina Park Katoomba, Amaroo Park Annangrove and since 1996, Eastern Creek / Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP).

On the weekend of September 3 & 4 this year there will be a major race meeting at SMSP which is known as Super 70 that is incorporating the Muscle Car Masters.

This will also be the first time that the Australian Motor Heritage Foundation (AMHF) will participate from their new offices, formerly the ARDC building at SMSP. The AMHF is committed to the preservation of all the knowledge that the motor clubs of Australia have collected over decades. AMHF members will be on hand to advise about Dad’s motoring book collection (and what to do with it), answer the questions that have been bugging Dad for years about his favourite car.

Many categories of racing will happen over the weekend, both Historic and Modern styles. There will be some events for motorbikes and special activities on track at night under lights. A lot of displays are planned to celebrate the ARDC 70th amid the racing and other happenings. One will involve cars and motorbikes from each of the seven decades since ARDC began.

The Club Display is on the Saturday, but entrant’s tickets will also permit attendance on the Sunday (Fathers Day) but Sunday won’t be an organised Club day.
