Description
As part of the Gunnedah Speed Weekend in March, a 1/2 mile Airport Sprint will be held on Saturday March 26.
This is the length of two quarter mile drag strips!!
Airport sprints are a fun way to see just how fast your car will go in a safe, off-road environment with minimal stress on your vehicle. Open to both road registered and log booked vehicles
The event is being held under Motorsport Australia permit number 222/2703/02 and entries are now open.

Entry cost is $125.00 by Direct Bank Deposit to a/c BSB: 637-000 / Account Number: 718811368 and noting your surname in the reference field.

A helmet (to Standard AS/NZS 1698) and a Motorsport Australia Speed Licence (or higher) will be required. Please click here for your electronic Motorsport Australia licence application form. Just open the form, complete it, save it and email it to memberservices@motorsport.org.au. You will need this licence to run in the HSVFest Motorsport, supersprints and track days.
Neck to wrist to ankle non synthetic (ie flammable) clothing and footwear is also required to be worn when competing, and a fire extinguisher needs to be mounted within reach of the driver. Please click here for more information about the fire extinguisher and how to mount it without needing to drill any holes in your car.
Our Club plans to travel as a group to Gunnedah on Friday, sprint on the Saturday and then drive to Mount Panorama, Bathurst on the Sunday as per the following schedule:
SCHEDULE
Friday 25 March
Meet at Thornleigh McDonalds and depart at 12 noon.
Travel via the M1 Pacific Motorway to the M15 Hunter Expressway and then the A15 New England Highway to Muswellbrook
Arrive Muswellbrook for a break, departing at 3:00pm
Travel via the A15 New England Highway to Willowtree and then the B51 Kamilaroi Highway to Gunnedah.
Arrive at Overlander Motor Lodge, 40 Conadilly Street, Gunnedah around 5:00pm and quickly unload.
Drive to Scrutineering at the Gunnedah Airport, 41 Wean Road, Gunnedah.
Saturday 26 March
Leave for Gunnedah Airport, 41 Wean Road, Gunnedah
Competition commences (4 – 6 runs)
Competition closes mid afternoon
Drive to Porcupine Lookout – Check out the view and watch Hillclimb practice for Sunday’s competitors.
Dinner at Railway Hotel with GME and other competitors.
Sunday 27 March
Leave for Mount Panorama, Bathurst 7:00am
Travel to Mudgee via B56 to Mullaley, then left onto the Black Stump Way to Coolah, then left onto Vinegaroy Road to join the B84. Left again at the B84 then after 2kms turn right onto Ulan Road to Mudgee.
Arrive Mudgee around 9:40am for a break. Leaving 10:00am
Travel via the B55 Castlereagh Highway to Ilford, turning right onto the Ilford Sofala Road to Bathurst.
Arrive Bathurst around 11:40am.
Join Brock Bathurst Cruise for laps, photo-shoot and lunch (separate bookings are required for this – please click here.)
ACCOMMODATION
The Club has booked 8 rooms at the Overlander Motor Lodge, 40 Conadilly Street Gunnedah, to secure rooms and pricing. Accommodation in Gunnedah is expected to book out for this weekend.
There are now only 3 rooms remaining. Each are Queen + Single rooms (1 x large double bed + 1 x single bed) at $290 for the 2 nights. With 2 adults sharing, this is just $160 per person (Double Bed) or $130 per person (single bed) for the 2 nights.

Accommodation payment will be by direct deposit, you will be advised of bank account details once bookings have closed.
