Description

HSVOC NSW 40th Anniversary of its Inception.

In the Christmas 1984 edition of the ACT HDT Owners Club’s magazine, HSVOC Honorary Member Paul Dillon placed a flyer inviting the NSW based members to meet with the Canberra members on May 5th, 1985, at the Briar’s Inn (Burradoo) for their first combined get together.

NSW member Warren Jenkins took the initiative and rang the four other NSW members and arranged for them to meet so that they could all travel down to Burradoo together.

Warren Jenkins, Brian Cassell, Jeff Kelly, Tricia Kelly, Mark Hitchenson and Les McClelland thus became the foundation members when the HDT Owners Club NSW Branch was first conceived on 5th May 1985.

After that first meeting at Burradoo, things began to happen thanks largely to Warren Jenkins.

At a meeting in January 1986, an initial NSW committee was established and the drafting of the club’s constitution commenced.

On Sunday April 6th, 1986, the first monthly meeting of members of the HDT Owners Club NSW was held at Dennys, North Parramatta. At that meeting it was agreed that the Club should hold all future monthly meetings at the Baulkham Hills Sporting Club on the second Thursday of each month at 8:00pm.

In June 1986 it was arranged for the transfer of the membership of the NSW resident members of the Canberra club over to the NSW club together with their original application forms. This was to give these members a continuity of membership.

This run commemorates 40 years since the inception of our Club and we’ll have a special guest joining us, Paul Dillon, who was the founder of the SS Commodore Owners Club from which our NSW Club was conceived 40 years ago.

Unfortunately, the Briar’s Inn can’t accommodate the number of Club cars on this Run so we’ll be going instead to the Ironstone Bar & Dining at the nearby Mittagong RSL for lunch.
