Segway at Mount Penang Gardens – 18th March 2018

Segway Olympics

Sunday 18th March 2018

Riding a Segway is quite simply amazing; it feels like nothing you’ve experienced – because there’s never been anything like it. It is fun and adventure wrapped up in one fantastic experience!

After a quick lesson in how to master these amazing machines, each team will appoint safety officers, team leaders and delegate amongst themselves various tasks.  They will then test their skills in a variety of fun adventure based obstacle challenges and team games whilst riding their Segway such as;

  • Top Shot – Race through the poles, reach the throw line, throw your Frisbee whilst balancing on your Segway and knock the bird off its perch to become the top shot.
  • Segway Soccer – It’s time to try out for the Olyroos, can you navigate the 1m high soccer ball through the goal posts and score the winning goal for your team.
  • Precision – Time to get into your yellow velcro bumble bee suit so team members can throw sticky balls at you which you must catch on your suit whilst riding your Segway. You must then successfully transport them and precisely land them in a bucket all the while riding your Segway.
  • Clumsy Waiter – Quick! Fill up the cups of water, place them on your tray, jump on your Segway and navigate the obstacle course, don’t be clumsy and spill any or it could cost you the race
  • Plus lots more fun and exciting challenges. To name a few there is Massive Egg & Spoon races, Olympic Relay, The Gauntlet, Guide Dog and Hula Dance.

Segway Team Challenges combine the fun and adventure of riding a Segway with many other elements that all require the full assistance of the team to ensure success.  By the end of program everyone will had a shared positive experience that is unique and guaranteed to be truly memorable.

If you do not want to participate in the Segway Olympics you can take your time and enjoy the garden surroundings at your leisure.

About the TSOA/HSVOC Dyno Day

This day has been organized on the Unigroup Engineering Dyno Dynamics 4WD Chassis Dyno to let you find out how many KW or HP you have at the rear wheels and how your engine is performing.

Evan and his team of technicians will host this afternoon where we are looking to have a minimum of 20 cars entered. For a fee of $80 you will get 3 power runs in succession to whatever rev limit you nominate or until the max power has been achieved as shown by a graph on the colour TV monitor. You will receive a graphical print out of your power runs, air/fuel ratio and boost pressure (if forced induction) across the rev range – all important information regarding how your engine is working.

Unigroup is a small tuning house that specializes in both naturally aspirated and forced induction engines either with EFI or carbies. After each run he will give a diagnosis of how your engine is performing and where improvements can be made.

He will be available to discuss any aspect of your engine as his team removes and replaces cars on the dyno. Each session will take approx 15-20 mins to load up, run and take off the dyno.

The day will commence either morning or early afternoon depending on numbers and go thru until all cars have had their runs. You can arrive and stay for the afternoon or book an approximate time in 20 min slots.

Unigroup’s website is www.unigroup.com.au so check out what they do or their tel no is 9631 2470 should you want to discuss aspects of this day or you can email Brett Gilles at brettgil@iinet.net.au

Private Hire Club Drag Day Sunday 8th July 2018

Entries Now Closed!

The HSV Owners Club has arranged a Private Club Track Hire Day for its members and members of associated car clubs on Sunday 8th July 2018. These types of days are limited, in fact the date we have been allocated was the only one remaining in 2018!

Cost is $230 per car and is great value because with the number of entries being limited there will be plenty of time to run your car and race your mates if you wish to do so.

Sedan street cars running over 10.50 seconds, competition sedan cars (with min 4 point roll bar) running over 10.00 seconds and OEM Street bikes running over 9.50 seconds may enter. Any vehicle running over 225kph / 140mph must have a parachute.

Double entries (where 2 drivers share the one car) are subject to prior approval by Sydney Dragway. If you want to double enter, each driver must enter and pay individually and then email Ian Williams at webmaster@hsvclubnsw.com including details of the car that will be shared. Deadline for double entries is Friday 15th June 2018. Double entrant information will then be emailed to Sydney Dragway and entrants will be emailed once approval has been received.

Entry price also includes entry for 2 crew members and 3 spectators – and no more. Crew members will have access to area near the launch pad, spectators will be restricted to the general spectator area.

Entries close once 70 entries are received or 5:00pm Wednesday 4th July 2018, whichever is the earliest.

The HSV Owners Club will be bringing its BBQ along and sausage sandwiches will be available for purchase at a reasonable cost. No shops will be open at the venue and you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Competitors gates open at 8:00am, Registration and Scrutineering 8:00am to 9:45am. A compulsory Drivers Briefing will be held at 10:00am with Racing commencing thereafter.

Drivers will be issued a pre-numbered entry form upon arrival at the venue. The entry form should be completed while in the pit/paddock area then brought on-foot, together with proof of identification, to the scrutineering building for processing by registration officials as soon as possible. Once you have registered and collected your wrist bands you will need to take your car to scrutineering for safety checking and race number application.

The apparel requirements and other information is included in the Supplementary Regulations which you will need to read. Please make sure that your helmet has a AS/NZS1698:2006 standard sticker on it, or at minimum complies with this standard. A summary of the requirements for the day is below.

Please include the names of all the people you will be bringing with you on the day below. These names will be included on your Order which will be automatically emailed to you once your entry has been submitted and processed.

You must print a copy of your order and bring it with you. Your order, showing the names of your crew and spectators will need to be presented at the Competitor Entry gate to gain access to the venue.
