On the last weekend in May, the Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo was held at Rosehill Gardens and the HSVOC was invited to hold a Round of its Muscle Car Show Championships at that prestigious venue while at the same time competing against the best Hot Rod and Custom cars that NSW has to offer. This became a Super Show with our vehicles displayed on carpet in air-conditioned indoor comfort.
Social Events: Runs to Hardy’s Bay, Annual Peter Brock Memorial Run to Mount Panorama Bathurst, Run to Appin followed by lunch at the Appin Hotel, HSV Fest long weekend in Albury Wodonga, Hunter Valley Wineries Tour with lunch at Harigans Irish Pub, Australian Motorlife Museum at Kembla Grange, Maitland Gaol followed by lunch at the Regal Inn, Zig Zag Railway at Clarence, Coffs Harbour Weekend Away (October) and a run to Cars, Culture and Go Karing at the Bankstown Entertainment Park. Steamfest (April) was cancelled due to wet weather.
Special Events: All Holden Day, Shannons Sydney Classic at SMSP and the Gala Dinner Presentation Night at Doltone House, Club Marconi (November)
2023 Club Motorsport Championship Winners:
Jack Hills won the Club’s Motorsport Championship Trophy with Bill Vouden placed 2nd and Malcolm Michel 3rd. Bill Vouden won the Road Holden Class for a third year, followed by Jason Lil and Tony McDermott. Malcolm Michel won the Race Holden Class followed by Luke Wall and Grant Charlwood. Jack Hills won the Outlaw Class followed by Louise Taylor and Jackson Wylie.
2023 Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship Results:
2023 is the eleventh year that our Club has been competing in the CAMS/Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship and the ninth year in a row that our Club has been on the Podium in the Club Championship, with another second place behind the ARDC.
Arthur Tsovolos placed 2nd in Class 2R3 (Prodsports <4000cc), Jack Hills placed 2nd in Class 3R3 (Improved Production <4000cc) and 2nd in Type 3R, Grant Charlwood placed 3rd in Class 3R4 (Improved Production >4000cc). Malcolm Michel again won Class 3S4 (>4000cc) and placed 2nd in Type 3S with Luke Wall in second place (Class) and 3rd place (Type). Jason Lill placed 2nd in Class RM4 (Modified Road cars >4000cc) and 3rd place in Type RM. Bill Vouden placed 3rd in Class RR4 (Road Registered Cars >4000cc), Jackson Wylie won Class TA3 (Time Attack Club Sprint 2 wheel drive) with David Wylie in 2nd.
Motorsport: Motorsport NSW Supersprint Championships – 6 Rounds including the first round held at the Pheasant Wood Circuit. The Shelley Brothers purchased Wakefield Park from the Benalla Auto Club and commenced a program of major refurbishments. The Bathurst Speed Series was also incorporated into our Club’s motorsport calendar. HSVOC Teams also competed with five teams in the NSW 6 Hour Regularity at the end of April, the NSWRRC’s Test and Tune track night on the SMSP Amaroo circuit, a Test n Tune Drag Day, Masterblast Hillclimb on the SMSP Amaroo circuit, a team in the 2023 Bathurst Challenge and a Private Hire Drag day in November.
Driver Development: Defensive Driving Program and Advanced Driving Program by Stewart Nicholls, Steer Safely.
