Sadly, Tom Walkinshaw, the man who created HSV and the Holden Racing team, passed away on 12th December 2010 aged 64 after battling illness for some time. The club held a memorial cruise to Lithgow in his honour on 30th January 2011.

With membership of 265 comprising of 222 NSW based members and 43 ACT based members, a survey of all members was carried out with 108 responses. Sunday Drives was the most popular activity overall with 70% combined first and second choice responses with Motorsport not far behind but with the highest first choice of 49%.

Ian Luff Presenting the Phillip Walsh Memorial Motorsport trophy to Paul McIntyre

Member Philip Walsh passed away on Sunday night 23rd May 2010 after having spent the day at a Club Driver Training Day. A procession of HSV’s formed an eye catching motorcade to his service at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Baulkham Hills. The club dedicated the perpetual Philip Walsh Memorial Motorsport Trophy for the Club’s fastest supersprinter each year.

The June/July edition of the Behind the Wheel magazine changed its cover format from a single cover design for a full year, to a different cover design for each issue. More work for Editor Karin Ross but the results have been well worth it!

The 2010 HSV Nationals were held in Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition building in September but without the motorsport component of previous years. This was compensated by a trip out to Holden’s secure proving grounds at Lang Lang and a 155kph cruise around the oval track.

Bruce Pattison, our South Coast Region Co-ordinator has had to resign for personal reasons and subsequently the Club appointed Sonya Wickham as his replacement.

At the end of the year, the club was invited to display at the first Sydney 500 V8 Supercar weekend at Homebush (pictured below), an annual pilgrimage that continued on for all the subsequent years when the Supercars competed at Homebush.
