On 11th July club members voted to change the club name to the HSV Owners Club of NSW (Incorporating HDT) Inc. by a margin of over 2 to 1. Strangely, following this vote, HSV advised that the new name was not acceptable to them due to the inclusion of the words “Incorporating HDT”. Subsequent discussions between Ross Reynolds and HSV’s new General Manager Chris Payne resulted in having that objection to the new name withdrawn. At the 2001 Annual General Meeting, members voted for a second time to accept this name change, but this time with a much larger margin, there being just one dissenter.

The HSV Nationals were held at Sandown, Victoria; the Hunter Valley Branch was formed and a new club Website www.hsvofnsw.com was created.
