President, Brian Crawford resigned that position on 2nd March 1999 “for the sake of the unity of the club following the events of the February general meeting”. Vice-President Barry Wright was elected to fill the casual vacancy that this resignation created. Consequently, a sub committee was formed to look at amendments to the Club Constitution which was the root cause for the concerns raised that the February general meeting.

Subsequently the Club Constitution was altered in August 1999 to address these concerns, the key changes being that the disciplining of members was to be handled at a Committee meeting rather than at a General meeting and a Family Membership level was introduced with the partner of the Family member also being allowed to vote.

1999 also saw 318 members; Club General Meeting nights were changed to the 2nd Wednesday of the month because of Thursday night shopping, and a new computerized Membership Register was developed at a cost of $800.00. The “Pit Stop” Newsletter that was published in between “Behind the Wheel” issues was discontinued due to poor input support.
